Oppegård
Amatørteaterlag
|
|
Oppegård Amatørteaterlag is located just south of Oslo, at a
small place called Kolbotn. We have developed from a small group
of people back in 1985, to a full blown amateur theatre group.
Today (February 2006) our headcount is about 100, and the members ages
span from 9 to 65. Throughout the past 21 years, OPAL has shifted
its focus from "merely" playing theatre over to doing
more and more musicals. Our last performances have been:
- "Annie" (October
1999)
- "Snow White and the seven Dwarfs"
(February 2000)
- "101 Dalmatians" (World Premier March 2001)
- "Robin Hood" (World
Premier February 2002)
- "Cinderella" (February
2003)
- "Treasure Island"
(October 2004)
On this page we have translated the parts of our webpages that
we think you'll find most interesting, but the contents of the
page is limited to history only. If you would like to contact us,
please find contact information at the bottom of the page.

What's new in OPAL:
In the beginning of 2006, Oppegård will officially open the new
community house - Kolben, and OPAL will perform at the opening. We
are very proud about the new house, and look foreward to perform
our shows here.

The start: |
Oppegård
Amatørteaterlag - OPAL, was officially started February
25th 1985, but many claim it really happened 2 years prior
to this. |
|
 |
The goal: |
The primary goal was to give
adults with acting skills a possibility to act in the
local community, but it did not take long before children
and young adults joined. Today the majority is children
and young adults from 8-9 years of age to 65. Who says
that we can't have fun together on stage? |
|
 |
Variety: |
Lots of people with love for
theatre have been able to show that they can act, sing and
dance throughout these 21 years. Some of them only join
for one show, others wants to be in every show. Since 1985
we have had variety shows, theatre performances and
musicals. Musicals have our full attention now, because it
attracts both children and grown ups to our shows. Over
the years about 390 children and grown ups have been in
the group. |
|
 |
Amount: |
Including "Aristokattene"
(February 2006) OPAL has managed to run 30 plays through the years!! |
|
 |
Spreading: |
Oppegård Amatørteaterlags
reputation has spread outside Oppegård community, and
today we have members from Oslo and Ski/Langhus. |
|
 |
Culture
prize: |
Our reputation also made
Akershus fylkeskommune choose OPAL as most worthy
recipiant of the 1998 Culture Prize. We value this prize
very much, and will try to continue producing high quality
shows in the future. |
|
 |
Todays
situation: |
OPALs own house burnt down
Monday morning June 14th 1999. The flames swallowed 15
years of our history. Together with costumes, wigs and
makeup, we lost manuscripts, sheet music, posters, videos
and more. Oppegård community has been very helpful, and
managed to find new housing for us. Today we are very
pleased with our new facilities in the old school building.
One of the old classrooms is now used for training in
smaller groups, and is big enough for storing all that we
need. |

In February
2006
- the première of "Aristokattene" (An
own version of The AristoCats)
will take place. This is a play/musical we have shown before,
and with a little brushing up,
it will be as good as new. We will have performances
every day for ten days.
